Batman #2 feels like the best parts of 90's Batman

DC

The story picks up from the cliffhanger at the end of issue 1, with Robin (Tim Drake) cornered as the corrupt Gotham PD closes in. As Robin tries to flee, he is shot and injured by one of the officers' bullets, then taken into a custody van filled with criminals who despise Batman and Robin.

This issue is truly remarkable. Although I was impressed by issue 1, issue 2 might be my favorite Batman issue of the past decade. The stakes are high, and the narrative is as tight as the action. Jorge Jimenez's art in this issue is genuinely outstanding. He captures Robin's movements with incredible fluidity without losing clarity.

Fraction continues his approach of crafting single-issue stories while also developing Bruce and his relationships. I loved the father-son dynamic between Batman and Robin, and the complete trust they shared as partners. Tim may not be my favorite Robin, but there's still much to appreciate about him. He seamlessly works with Batman, often communicating without words because they are so in sync.

I feel that much of what made Batman and Tim interesting in the 90s has been somewhat lost. Since Damian's introduction, their dynamic hasn't been explored as much. However, Fraction and Jimenez succeed in recapturing that 90s vibe while presenting it in a fresh and innovative manner.

I won’t spoil the whole issue here, but this Batman run is hitting it out of the park, and I cant wait for the next issue.
